The San Diego Socialist (SDS) was formed in May of 2023 in an effort to build a new socialist organization in the San Diego-Tijuana border region. The goal of the SDS is to organize with the working classes to build power to resist exploitation and oppression, organize initiatives and campaigns that advance the demands and needs of the people, to improve the standard of living and working conditions in our daily lives, to strengthen efforts at building solidarity between workers and oppressed groups, and to advocate and strive for opposing capitalism and fighting to replace it with socialism. 

The San Diego Socialists identify the system of capitalism as the driving force of exploitation, all forms oppression, poverty, inequality, war, environmental destruction, police and state violence, and all other forms of social harm, violence, and under-development. We see socialism as the antidote to the ills of capitalism. Socialism recognizes that all wealth is produced by the working class, but the capitalist class takes it as profit. 

Instead of a dictatorship of the 1%, where our voices are marginalized, ignored, and subordinated to those of capitalists, investors, landlords, and bosses, Socialism means constructing a real popular democracy where the people who create all social wealth democratically decide and plan how to distribute and use it for our collective development.

Lxs Socialistas de San Diego (SDS) se formó en mayo de 2023 en un esfuerzo por construir una nueva organización socialista en la región fronteriza San Diego-Tijuana. El objetivo de la SDS es organizarse con las clases trabajadoras para construir el poder para resistir la explotación y la opresión, organizar iniciativas y campañas que promuevan las demandas y necesidades de la gente, para mejorar el nivel de vida y las condiciones de trabajo en nuestra vida cotidiana, fortalecer los esfuerzos para construir la solidaridad entre los trabajadores y los grupos oprimidos, y abogar y luchar por reemplazar el sistema capitalista con el socialismo.

SDS identifica el sistema del capitalismo como la fuerza impulsora de la explotación, todas las formas de opresión, pobreza, desigualdad, guerra, etc. destrucción ambiental, violencia policial y estatal, y todas las otras formas de daño social, violencia y subdesarrollo. Vemos el socialismo como el antídoto a los males del capitalismo. El socialismo reconoce que toda la riqueza es producida por la clase obrera, pero la clase capitalista la toma como ganancia.

En lugar de una dictadura del 1% donde nuestras voces son marginadas e ignoradas, el socialismo significa construir una verdadera democracia popular donde las personas que crean toda la riqueza social democráticamente decidan y planifiquen cómo distribuirla y usarla para nuestro desarrollo colectivo.
